- As Valentine’s Day approaches, I wanted to continue my holiday themed t-shirt designs to raise awareness and needed funds for the many homeless pets that are waiting in various shelters for their forever homes.
- This design is special-it was created especially for the Humane Society of Delaware County’s (Delaware, Ohio) Furr Ball which is their largest annual fund raiser. All monies raised through ticket sales, sponsorships and auctions go directly to care for the animals in the shelter and to support the fight against animal cruelty and neglect.
- But even long after this event is over, you can purchase one of these great t-shirts from my shop knowing that a portion of the profits will be donated to the Cruelty Fund of the Humane Society of Delaware County in Delaware, Ohio. You can find this design on a t-shirt or one of many other fun items at www.getanattitudehere.com. If you are visiting my blog, just click on the t-shirt link in the right hand column of the page.
- And remember–if you are considering adding a new pet to your family, please adopt from a shelter or rescue organization. Don’t buy from a pet store or a breeder.
Johnson and Johnson’s Mighty Tampon Conspiracy
- It seems that the Johnson and Johnson company made a huge blunder when it chose to discontinue the “o.b. Ultra” tampons. Apparently the powers-that-be underestimated just how popular this product was with women, and have issued the following apology: “In case you questioned it, we’re really, really, really sorry that you were not able to find our products earlier this year. You’ve also shown us how much you love o.b. Ultra and we’re sorry we discontinued it–we stand corrected! We’re working hard to bring o.b. Ultra back to store shelves by the second half of 2012 and we’ll keep you updated on our progress. In the meantime, we’d like to apologize with this video message and extend a special coupon offer. Again, we’re really, really, really sorry!”
- The female consumer is than instructed to type in her first name, and click on the link to the video. She is then treated to a hunky guy, singing a sappy sorry song in her name, and her name ends up mysteriously tattooed on his shoulder. The link is www.obtampons.com. Do the company marketing executives really believe that women will be impressed with this dog and pony show? Really?
- Ladies, can you imagine if instead of tampons, we were talking about Magnum condoms or Viagra? What do you suppose would be the reaction of men if the makers told them, “We’re working hard to bring Magnum condoms (or Viagra) back to store shelves by the second half of 2012. We’re really, really, really sorry!” I think we know the answer, don’t we ladies? Those products would be on the shelf by the second half of the month, and NOT the second half of the year!
- For those unfamiliar with the o.b. Tampon, it is unique because it doesn’t come in a cardboard or plastic applicator. For many women this means no pinching when it’s being inserted, and no plastic to litter the environment. Indeed, I remember that when it was first introduced back in the 1970′s, while I was in college, it was touted as the feminist’s tampon because it was said to be designed by a female gynecologist.
- One would have thought that Johnson and Johnson might have learned a lesson from another similar tampon debacle that happened several years ago. Some of the companies thought that it would be better to reduce the number of tampons from 40 to 32 in a box instead of raising the price. This concept of decreasing the quantity of an item, such as ice cream, while keeping the price the same is very common with consumer products. The manufacturers assume that most people won’t notice the difference, and in most cases they are correct. However, such was NOT the case with tampons. Women noticed! In fact if you ask most women, we can tell you when our periods will happen, how long they will run, which are the heavy and light flow days, and how many tampons or pads will be required. Ha ha.
- So the folks at Johnson and Johnson who created the o.b. Tampon that is “Designed small to protect big!” and is touted as “mighty” and “small,” now find themselves in a mighty big public relations mess! It’s not nice to fool with Mother Nature or women on their periods!
Christmas Save a Life, Adopt a Pet Campaign
- Every year millions of perfectly healthy pets are euthanized simply because there are not enough homes for them. Meanwhile, the greedy folks at the puppy mills and other breeding facilities continue to breed and charge exorbitant fees for their “product.” Since money is their key driving force, the only way to shut them down permanently is to simply stop buying from them and choose adoption instead. It really is a simple as that! Educated pet owners won’t allow themselves to be emotionally swayed by that cute little doggy in the window, or the brightly lit and cheerfully decorated pet store. Some people think that by buying those frequently unhealthy and genetically inferior animals, that they are saving their lives. While that might help that individual animal in the short run, in the long run they are helping to support the money machine that perpetuates this despicable industry.
- Chances are good that even if you are looking for a purebreed dog or cat, you will find your perfect companion at a local shelter, humane society, or pet rescue organization at a much lower cost. Don’t get sucked in by those “easy payment plans” that the pet stores may offer to entice you to buy!
- Anyhoo, in an effort to help stem the tide of the senseless killing of all these precious animals, I have created a special Christmas Adopt a Pet design in my Get An Attitude Productions t-shirt shop. It features a cute Persian cat and a dog under a Christmas tree with the logo: “Give the Gift of Life! Adopt a Pet! Don’t Buy!”
- From now until December 15, 2011, folks who live in the Delaware, Ohio area can visit our local Humane Society of Delaware County where they can buy tickets for a raffle to win one of these cute t-shirts. The drawing will be held on December 16, 2011. All money from this raffle will go to the Cruelty Fund to support the critical work of their Cruelty Investigator who faces the challenge of rescuing neglected and abused animals from their abysmal living conditions.
- In addition, I will donate a portion of the profits from any item with this design that is purchased from my shop Get An Attitude Productions to this same Cruelty Fund. As you can tell, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart! You can see this design on the right side of my blog and can get to it by clicking on the t-shirt icon. Or you can go to www.getanattitudehere.com if you happen to be off my blog.
